Overview

TetherBit is developed and operated by TetherBit. We're committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

By using TetherBit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. By continuing to use the app after any update, you acknowledge and accept the terms of the most current version of this policy.

What Data We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All of your personal goal, habit, and routine data is stored locally on your iPhone. This includes:

  • Goals you create
  • Habits you track
  • Routines you build
  • Your streak data
  • Any notes or details you add

This data never leaves your device unless you opt out of data sharing (see "Your Rights" below), in which case it's deleted from your device but anonymous usage data already collected is retained.

Anonymous Usage Data (Beta Program)

As part of the ongoing beta program, we collect anonymous usage data to improve the app. This data is:

  • Generated daily (at midnight or when you next open the app)
  • Sent automatically via webhook to Google Forms when you open the app for the first time each day
  • Completely anonymous—no personal information is included
  • Stored in Google Forms and exported to Google Sheets for analysis

The daily summary includes: anonymous device ID (hashed), date, number of goals created, habits completed, routines started and completed, current streak length, character state, and whether the app was opened that day.

What we don't collect: your name, email, phone number, any personal identifiers, the actual content of your goals or habits, your location, or photos and contacts.

Data Shared with AI Services

TetherBit now integrates an AI feature that provides personalized summaries and allows you to build, edit, and manage your goals, habits, routines, and programs through a chat interface. To power this feature, non-identifying, anonymous usage data — the same type described above — is sent to a third-party AI model provider. This data does not include your name, personal identifiers, or the specific content of your goals and habits.

By continuing to use the app, you acknowledge and consent to this data being sent to AI model providers for the purpose of generating personalized, in-app experiences. The AI data sharing and anonymous usage data collection described in this policy are part of the same data privilege — opting out of one opts you out of both.

Currently, TetherBit uses AI models provided by Anthropic (Claude). The AI provider may change over time. When the provider changes, this policy will be updated accordingly.

How We Use Your Data

The anonymous usage data is used to understand how beta testers are using the app, identify bugs and friction points, improve app features, track overall beta program engagement, and power personalized AI-generated summaries and recommendations within the app. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with any third parties beyond the AI service providers described above.

AI Features — Important Limitations

The AI features in TetherBit are provided as a convenience tool and have important limitations you should be aware of:

  • AI responses are not guaranteed. Due to rate limiting, you may not always receive an AI response. Access to AI features may be restricted based on your usage volume or service availability.
  • AI can make mistakes. The AI may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate suggestions. Do not rely solely on AI-generated content for important decisions.
  • No liability for AI outcomes. TetherBit is not responsible for any positive or negative outcomes resulting from the use of AI-generated summaries, recommendations, goals, habits, routines, or programs — whether built by the AI or built by you using AI assistance.

A disclaimer is also displayed within the app. By using the AI features, you acknowledge these limitations.

Third-Party Services

Anthropic (AI Provider)

Anonymous, non-identifying usage data is sent to Anthropic's API to power in-app AI features. This data is subject to Anthropic's privacy policies. The AI provider may change in the future, and this policy will be updated to reflect any such changes.

Google Forms and Google Sheets

Anonymous usage data is sent via webhook to Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets for analysis. This data is subject to Google's privacy policies. Currently, only the developer has access to this data.

Discord (Beta Feedback)

If you choose to join our Discord community for beta feedback, you'll be subject to Discord's privacy policy. Any information you share in Discord is voluntary.

Website Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console to understand website traffic. This data is not linked to the app or your app usage.

iOS

TetherBit is built for iOS. Standard iOS system functions may be used, but no data is sent to Apple beyond what's required for the App Store.

Future Payment Processing

The beta version of TetherBit is free. In the future, we may introduce in-app purchases or subscriptions via services like Superwall. We will not directly handle or store your payment details.

Data Security

Your goal and habit data stays on your device, protected by iOS security features. Anonymous usage data is transmitted via secure webhook to Google Forms and to AI service providers, and is stored in Google Sheets, accessible only to authorized TetherBit personnel. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Your Rights

  • Opt out of data sharing: You can opt out in the app's settings at any time. Opting out will delete all local data from your device and reset the app. This also opts you out of AI data sharing. Anonymous usage data already collected cannot be deleted, as there is no way to match the anonymous device ID to your identity.
  • Delete local data: Delete the TetherBit app from your device to permanently remove all local data.
  • Request information: Contact us at tetherbit@surge-funnels.com with questions about data we've collected.

Beta Program Consent

When you applied for beta testing, we collected your email address and application form information solely to review your application and communicate with you about it.

By continuing to participate in the beta program — including after any app update — you explicitly agree to allow TetherBit to collect anonymous usage data as described above, including automatic daily transmission via webhook to Google Forms, and transmission of non-identifying data to AI model providers to power in-app AI features.

Children's Privacy

TetherBit beta is restricted to users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
