TetherBit is developed and operated by TetherBit. We're committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

By using TetherBit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

What Data We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All of your personal goal, habit, and routine data is stored locally on your iPhone. This includes:

• Goals you create
• Habits you track
• Routines you build
• Your streak data
• Any notes or details you add

This data never leaves your device unless you opt out of data sharing (see "Your Rights" below), in which case it's deleted from your device but anonymous usage data already collected is retained.

Anonymous Usage Data (Beta Program Only)

During the beta testing period, we collect anonymous usage data to improve the app. This data is:

• Generated daily (at midnight or when you next open the app)
• Sent automatically via webhook to Google Forms when you open the app for the first time each day, or when you return to the home screen after midnight rollover
• Completely anonymous—no personal information is included
• Stored in Google Forms and exported to Google Sheets for analysis

The daily summary includes:

• Anonymous device ID (hashed, not identifiable)
• Date
• Number of goals created
• Number of habits completed
• Number of routines started and completed
• Current streak length
• Character state (sleeping/awake/jumping)
• Whether the app was opened that day (yes/no)

What we don't collect:

• Your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifiers
• The actual content of your goals, habits, or routines
• Your location
• Photos, contacts, or other device data

How We Use Your Data

The anonymous usage data is used solely to:

• Understand how beta testers are using the app
• Identify bugs and friction points
• Improve app features and user experience
• Track overall beta program engagement

We compile this data in Google Forms and Google Sheets for analysis. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with any third parties.

Third-Party Services

Google Forms and Google Sheets

Anonymous usage data is sent via webhook to Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets for analysis. This data is subject to Google's privacy policies. Currently, only the developer has access to this data, though this may expand to other authorized TetherBit personnel in the future.

Discord (Beta Feedback)

If you choose to join our Discord community for beta feedback, you'll be subject to Discord's privacy policy. Any information you share in Discord is voluntary.

Website Analytics

Our website (tetherbit.com) uses Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console to understand website traffic. These services collect standard web analytics data (page views, browser type, etc.). This data is not linked to the app or your app usage.

iOS

TetherBit is built for iOS. Standard iOS system functions (notifications, background app refresh) may be used, but no data is sent to Apple beyond what's required for the App Store.

Future Payment Processing

The beta version of TetherBit is free. In the future, we may introduce in-app purchases or subscriptions via services like Superwall. If we do, we'll update this policy and those services will have their own privacy policies regarding payment information. We will not directly handle or store your payment details.

Data Security

Your goal and habit data stays on your device, protected by iOS security features. The anonymous usage data is transmitted via secure webhook to Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets, accessible only to authorized TetherBit personnel.

While we take reasonable precautions, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Opt out of data sharing: You can opt out in the app's settings at any time. Opting out will delete all local data from your device and reset the app. You will lose access to beta features until you opt back in. Important: Anonymous usage data already collected cannot be deleted, as there is no way to match the anonymous device ID to your identity in our database.
• Delete local data: Delete the TetherBit app from your device to permanently remove all local data from your phone

Beta Program Consent

Beta Application Process

When you apply for beta testing, we collect your email address and any information you provide in the application form. This information is used solely to:

• Review your application for beta access
• Communicate with you about your application status
• Send you beta program updates if accepted

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the beta program. We may decline applications without providing a reason.

Beta Participation Agreement

By participating in the beta program, you explicitly agree to:

• Allow TetherBit to collect anonymous usage data as described above
• Automatic transmission of daily summaries via webhook to Google Forms
• Understand that this data collection is required for beta participation
• Understand that opting out will delete your local data and reset the app
• Understand that anonymous data already collected cannot be deleted or removed

This consent is requested during app onboarding and must be accepted to continue with beta testing.

Children's Privacy

TetherBit beta is restricted to users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we discover we've collected data from someone under 18, we'll delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of TetherBit after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
